Late Dining Rocks! I have so many clients who are disappointed when they are not able to get the early dining time on their upcoming cruises. Most people see these early times as the most desirable, citing problems such as their kids being too hungry if they have to wait for the later times. I always love to take the opportunity to explain why I love to have the later dining times, and ease their minds. First and foremost, you will not starve to death on a cruise ship! There are so many options, from the quick bite snack shops, to the buffet, to even room service where you can order a light snack late in the afternoon to hold you over until dinner time. Secondly, many of the early dining times cut into your day! |

Options at Walt Disney World® Resort for Families of Five While most families these days are made up of 2 children or less, families with 3 or more are still common. When these families start looking at vacation options, they see immediately that hotel rooms, cruise ship staterooms, etc. are almost all designed for a maximum of 4 people. This means added costs beyond additional air tickets---oftentimes it means booking two rooms and splitting the family up. Walt Disney World® Resort does offer some options for families of 5 in all three resort categories: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. I will try and explain some of the benefits of staying at each level of resort they offer. |

Disney's Aladdin Musical Spectacular At 1313 S. Disneyland Dr. Anaheim, CA, there is one of the most overlooked attractions by Disney California Adventure® Park newbies. Indeed, this might be the best deal in the entire Disneyland® Resort. Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular is a fantastic and very well planned out Broadway-style musical. I make a point to see this every single time I visit the Disneyland® Resort, and it never gets old as the dialogue and jokes are updated on a regular basis! I do not want to spoil anything about the presentation, except to say that it closely follows the movie and features numerous special effects. All of the actors are wonderful and special attention has gone into the Genie. Genie is a quite a character and has tons of personality! He is hilarious and probably one of my favorite parts of the show. I love how he constantly updates his pop culture references. Even though his jokes are a bit corny sometimes, they are still very funny and entertaining for the whole family. |

Is One of our Travel Consultants Working for You? Maybe you're the type of person who loves to plan your vacation months or years ahead of time. You spend hours researching the best flights, hotel deals, tickets for attractions, making dining and excursion reservations. The night before you travel, there's a huge snowstorm or a volcanic eruption has stranded you overseas... who do you turn to? The website you booked it through? The toll-free number listed at the bottom of that email? After you go through five menus and have pressed "0" for customer service, you finally get a human being at the other end of the line. You are then bounced around from Agent A to Agent B to Agent C; your problem is still not resolved. You should've called your Travel Consultant... Travel Consultant?? What's that?! Uncovering the Secret of the Rainforest Room! What's a girl (or a guy) to do when she finds herself in the need of some serious relaxation on a cruise ship? Why visit the spa, of course! On a recent cruise aboard the Disney Wonder®, I had the joy of experiencing the spa on a daily basis. You might say, oh, that's too much money; I couldn't afford a daily spa treatment. Access to the spa is actually more affordable than you might think. By purchasing the Rainforest package available to individuals and couples I was able to enjoy aspects of the spa daily. I enjoyed the dry sauna and the aromatherapy sauna; however, I found the traditional sauna to be too hot for me. The showers were heavenly and created the perfect cool down after time spent in one of the saunas. While the saunas were enjoyable, my favorite part of the Rainforest room was the heated tile lounge chairs. I could be found lying in one every afternoon. The gentle heat of the tiles coupled with the movement of the ship created the perfect environment for napping, er, I mean relaxing. After time spent in one of these lounge chairs, I would feel refreshed and ready to meet the rest of my day head on. Someone who is a newbie to spas might wonder what the protocol is for enjoying the Rainforest room. It is not at all complex or intimidating. After checking in with the spa receptionist, you take yourself to the appropriate changing room. Along with restrooms, showers, and a waiting area for other spa treatments, there is a changing room with lockers. In each of the open lockers you will find a clean robe and pair of spa sandals for use during your treatment. (Use of the Rainforest room requires that you wear a bathing suit.) After changing and placing your items into a locker for which you create your own unique code during your use, you head off to relax. |

Carthay Circle Restaurant: Past Meets Present From the moment you arrive on Buena Vista Street in Disney's California Adventure® Park, you are transported back in time to a different time and place. You have arrived in California on that same train with Walt Disney himself in 1923. There is the Red Trolley Car asking you to hop on board and join the fun. Quaint shops from another era line the street while the residents strolled by and greet you with a smile. Your destination, Carthay Circle Theatre stands before you and you find yourself looking over your shoulder just to double check that Walt is not walking a step behind you. Carthay Circle Theatre now stands majestically at the end of Buena Vista Street to greet visitors as they enter Disney's California Adventure® Park. In 1937, the original Carthay Circle Theatre was where Walt Disney premiered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Today's Carthay Circle Theatre is the home for one of the newest Disney dining adventures! |

Tips to Take the Stress Out of Family Travel The Walt Disney World® Resort is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. It is especially popular with families, for obvious reasons. Anyone who has traveled with their family knows the inherent difficulties of close proximity and altered schedules on the family dynamic. What are some things you can do to reduce the stress and anxiety for your upcoming trip? Here are just a few suggestions! A big stress reducer is to build in some down time into your schedule. Consider a day away from the theme parks just to enjoy all the amenities and recreation opportunities at your resort or the Downtown Disney® area. If you don't want to give up a whole day, then consider heading back to your resort during the hottest part of the day to play in the gorgeous pool. Another way to keep everyone mellow and happy is to schedule some sit down meals. Nothing beats getting out of the heat and away from the crowds like a family meal at a wonderfully themed restaurant. The hour or so that you spend having a good meal will refresh and rejuvenate your travel party. A final way to help ensure family harmony on a Walt Disney World® Resort vacation is to let everyone have a chance to experience the theme parks at their pace. |

Disney PhotoPass and PhotoPassPlus+ How many times have you returned from vacation to find your camera full of photos of everyone... except you? You're always behind the camera, never in front of it. With Disney's PhotoPass service, your entire group can be in your Walt Disney World® Resort or Disneyland® Resort vacation photos. You can add fun borders or enhancements to them, plus the photographers can help you create special "magic shots" that you can't do with your own camera. Disney has photographers stationed around the parks and resorts ready to capture your family's special moments. The first photographer you meet will take your photo and give you a special PhotoPass card with a unique code. Every time you meet a photographer after that, they will scan your card and all your photos will be associated with it. (Tip: snap a pic of the number side of the card with your own camera in case the card gets lost, then you can still retrieve your photos). You can even have multiple cards on one account. This is great if your party splits up and has separate photos taken. At the end of the day, you can visit photo locations in each park to view and order prints. Or, wait until the end of your trip to view the photos online and order individual prints or keepsakes, or my favorite, a CD with all your photos, even if there are hundreds of them! A new offering is Disney PhotoPass+, which will not only have all your family's in-park and resort shots on CD, it will also include unlimited digital on-ride photos as well as print packages from select dining locations. I think it's a great bargain if you'll be in the parks a few days. If you want to save on your images, pre-order the PhotoPass PhotoCD before your trip. |

Seeing Disneyland® Park through Walt's Eyes Surely you know about the thrilling attractions, amazing shows, various dining choices and famous fireworks that the Disneyland® Park has to offer. But did you know they offer guided tours? For an extra fee, you can go beyond the surface! Learn about the horticulture of the parks or take a seasonal tour of the Halloween or Holiday decorations just to name a few. For the true Walt Disney buff, or those wanting to learn more about the parks, I highly suggest the tour, A Walk in Walt's Footsteps. This tour brings the history of Walt Disney and Disneyland® Park to life through highly-trained guides. You start your trip through Disney history at City Hall. It is a several hour walking tour so dress accordingly. Your guide points out the history on Main Street, U.S.A. as well as the staging tricks used to give the buildings their look. By the time you've made it to Sleeping Beauty Castle, you won't believe all the amazing details you've just learned. As the tour continues throughout the park, your guide shares many little known facts and trivia behind the buildings and attractions. They also tell you about the some of the plans that never came to be. In addition to just learning about the history, you'll even get to ride some of the attractions and see hidden touches left behind by the creators. This tour is about the only way to get a sneak peak of the lobby of the exclusive Club 33, without having a membership that is. Inside, you learn about what makes this exclusive club so special. While you won't dine at Club 33, lunch and a souvenir pin are included in your tour. |

Meet the Characters at Sea! For many guests, one of the highlights of a Disney experience is meeting the characters. There is something truly magical about seeing a movie or an animated short and then having those characters come to life right in front of your eyes, interacting with you, taking photos with you, and signing your autograph books. What you may not know if that meeting characters on the Disney Cruise Line® ships has its own unique flavor. As an avid character-meeter on my most recent cruise (my friends who were there may argue that "avid" is putting it mildly) let me share with you my Top 3 Tips for Meeting Characters on your Disney Cruise Line® vacation.

Travel Gift Certificates! Just in time for your holiday shopping. The Gift of Travel: It is so much more than just a great present! How does this sound? Wake up, find something to wear, get the kids off to school, fight the traffic on the way to work, make important phone calls on your lunch hour, rush home to carpool the after-school activities, dinner..uh-oh...forgot about dinner, do a load of wash, pay the bills, plan the holiday dinner, run to the gym or a PTA meeting...or both...fall into bed to do it all again the next morning. Life is busy, life is frazzled and often the things we don't make time for are truly the most important to us: quality time with our friends and family. Traveling isn't just a way to ride the latest thrill rides or get some great photos, it can truly be a way to soothe our souls, reenergize our spirits and rekindle our relationships. It has become a sort of stress management. What happens to us when we travel? |

The Magic of Main Street When you enter the Magic Kingdom® Park, you will emerge from the tunnel which runs under the Railroad and step into turn-of-the-century America. Most people scamper down Main Street, U.S.A. focused on the castle and the lands beyond. Unfortunately, many miss the chance to leisurely walk down the street and enjoy their first exposure to Disney magic. Disney's Imagineers used many of Walt's movie-making techniques to create the illusion that Main Street, U.S.A. is a thriving town in the early 1900s. The first story of every building is normal size, but as you go up, each story gets progressively smaller. This creates the illusion that the buildings are much larger. To further cement the theming, they created a cast of characters to mingle and bring it all to life. You will find Mayor Weaver, Scoop Sanderson, ace reporter for Main Street Gazette and The Dapper Dans! When designing the parks, the shop windows were placed lower to the ground so that even the smallest of children could look through them and see the wonders inside. |

Taking the Stress Out of Formal Nights! When you think of dinner on a cruise ship, what do you think of? Formal night? Men in tuxes and women in ball gowns? Most 7-night Disney Cruise Line® vacations normally do have one Formal Night and one Semi-Formal Night, as well as a couple of theme nights including a Pirate Night! At first, you may not think dressing up for Pirate Night sounds like fun - until you're surrounded by people doing it. If "dressing up" to you means a pair of jeans without holes and "formal" means a collared shirt or a nice skirt, I have good news and better news (I'll let you decide which is which). First, anything beyond cruise casual in the Dining Dress Requirements for Disney Cruise Line® is actually requested/recommended, not required. As long as you are at least at cruise casual they will let you in. Even on formal night you could show up wearing a pair of nice pants/slacks and a polo or button-down shirt (preferably dark colored, but not essential) and be fine. For the formal night if you wanted to add a tie to that you could do so as well. Now, the other good/better news. If you choose not to go to the Main dining room on formal and/or semi-formal nights, there are several other dining options at your disposal. Believe me, if there's one thing still universally true about cruising it's that you can get food pretty much anywhere, any time. On the Disney Wonder®, there is the Beach Blanket Buffet, Goofy's Galley, Pinocchio's Pizzeria, and Pluto's Dog House (all except the buffet are quick-serve type restaurants). |

Disney's PhotoPass+® IS a PLUS!! Disney takes photography seriously, and they have 'imagineered' a way to give value to those photographs and also make them affordable. It is called Disney's PhotoPass® and Disney's PhotoPass+®. You can purchase either of these packages when you arrive at Walt Disney World® Resort, but to save some bucks, you can now add Disney's PhotoPass+® option to your vacation package before you even arrive. The Disney PhotoPass+® gives you all the benefits of the standard Disney PhotoPass® package (unlimited photos in the parks and water parks) but includes photographs at select character dining; Donald's Safari Breakfast and Lunch and Chef Mickey ($30 each if purchased individually); and the following ride photos ($15 each): Space Mountain®; Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin® Adventure; Splash Mountain®; Rock 'n' Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith; The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™; Expedition Everest; Dinosaur Attraction and Test Track® Presented by Chevrolet. |

Baby Care Centers - A Parent's Best Friend! If you are a new mom or dad you probably have lots of questions about vacationing with your little one. But don't worry, like me you will find out how easy it is to take a baby to the Walt Disney World® or the Disneyland® Resort. Popular questions are: Where will I breastfeed? Where will I change diapers? What if I forgot diapers? The answer is the Baby Care Centers! The Walt Disney World® Resort keeps babies in mind and offers Baby Care Centers hosted by Carnation Baby Formulas in each of its theme parks. It has all the amenities of home. It has a private room to breastfeed your little one equipped with wooden rocking chairs, a changing area, and a kitchen where you can purchase baby essentials if your forgot them, including Carnation Good Start formula, Gerber baby food, juice, bottles and pacifiers, Huggies diapers and wipes, Balmex, Johnson's products, various children's medications. |

Some Holiday Fun A visit to the Walt Disney World® Resort is a special treat any time of the year, but there seems to be an extra dose of magic in the air around the holidays. Disney is known for their attention to detail, and holiday decorations are no exception. I love how each park is done up differently to showcase their own theming. Hotels are caught up in the seasonal spirit too, from magnificent and elaborate Christmas trees to extraordinary concoctions. One of our December trips, we stayed at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, where an entire puebla built of edible components was on display. Another year, my family and I enjoyed making our own "attraction" by visiting the resorts on the monorail: Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Polynesian Resort, and Disney's Contemporary Resort. We started at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa where their annual decoration is a giant gingerbread house, positioned in the grand lobby. We marveled as we walked around the towering structure, whose spire reaches almost level with the second floor balcony. Appreciating not only the beauty, but the workmanship, it is mind boggling to read the list of ingredients and try to comprehend that amount of sugar! The bonus at this location: being able to purchase gingerbread treats (which we took home for decorations instead of eating!). |

A Side Trip to Universal Studios Florida After many trips to the Walt Disney World® Resort, our curiosity grew about the park just down the road. You know the one I mean Universal Studios Florida! We just wanted to check out the alternatives, so we planned a daytrip over there. |
